Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you are looking for support for your child, your teenager, or yourself as a young adult, navigating the logistics of therapy can feel overwhelming. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often.
What age groups do you specialize in?
We specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Our clinical approach is uniquely tailored to meet the developmental needs of these specific stages of life, helping clients navigate everything from school stress and peer relationships to life transitions and emotional growth.
How does telehealth work for children and teenagers?
Telehealth is highly effective, convenient, and comfortable for young people who are already very familiar with digital spaces. Our virtual sessions go beyond just sitting and talking. We utilize interactive digital tools, therapeutic games, and engaging activities designed to keep younger clients focused and involved.
To get the most out of telehealth, we recommend ensuring your child has a quiet, private space where they feel safe speaking freely without interruptions.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Autumn Wellness & Counseling is a 100% virtual private practice. All of our sessions are conducted securely via telehealth. This allows busy students and families across New Jersey to access high-quality mental health care from the comfort and convenience of their own homes, eliminating commute times and scheduling headaches.
Logistics, Insurance & Fees
Do you accept insurance?
Autumn Wellness & Counseling is in network with most major insurance plans, including HBCBS, Aetna, United Healthcare, Optum, Cigna, and more. We also accept private pay and offer sliding scale for those without insurance.
What are your session fees and how do I pay?
-
Initial Intake Assessment (50 minutes): $200.00 (Insurance Accepted)
-
Standard Individual Session (45 minutes): $175.00 (Insurance Accepted)
All payments are processed securely and automatically at the time of service using a credit, debit, HSA (Health Savings Account), or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) card kept on file in your secure client portal.
What is your cancellation policy?
We maintain a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Because your session time is exclusively reserved for you, cancellations or requests to reschedule made less than 24 hours before your appointment, as well as missed appointments, will be subject to a $60 fee. We deeply appreciate your cooperation in respecting our clinicians' time.
Information for Parents & Families
As a parent, how involved will I be in my child’s therapy?
Parent collaboration is essential, especially for children and younger adolescents. During the initial intake session, we will spend time gathering history together to understand your concerns and goals for your child. Moving forward, we will schedule periodic parent check-ins to discuss progress, share helpful strategies for home, and ensure we are working as a team.
Is my teenager's session completely confidential from me?
Trust is the foundation of effective therapy, particularly for teenagers and young adults. To create a space where your teen feels safe opening up, their specific session details are kept confidential.
However, privacy is not absolute. Safety is always our top priority. If your teenager discloses anything indicating they are a danger to themselves or others, or if there is a critical safety concern, you will be notified immediately. We also work closely with teens to help them find ways to communicate important breakthroughs or challenges to their parents voluntarily.
Getting Started
What should I expect during the first session?
The first session is called an Intake Assessment. It’s a 50-minute conversation focused on getting to know you or your child. We will review your background, talk about what brings you to therapy at this time, and outline your goals. It’s also an opportunity to ensure we feel like the right clinical fit for your journey.
How do I schedule a consultation?
Getting started is simple. Click any of the "Book a Consultation" buttons on our website to schedule a complimentary, 15-minute phone consultation. This brief call allows us to touch base on your needs, answer any remaining questions, and get your initial intake scheduled.
